Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting clinical competence of critical thinking disposition, problem solving process and clinical practice stress of nursing students.
Methods : This study was conducted 250 undergraduate nursing students in the study. Data were analyzed by SPSS 21.0 statistics.
Results : The results of the study showed that critical thinking disposition was 3.48(¡¾0.53), problem solving process was 3.19(¡¾0.52), clinical practice stress was 3.29(¡¾0.59) and clinical competence was 3.20(¡¾0.39) respectively. Critical thinking disposition was positively correlated with problem solving process(r .05, £½ p £¼.001). And clinical competence was a significant negative correlation with clinical practice stress(r -.06 £½ p £¼.001). Multiple regression analysis showed that the regression fit F value was 11.15, which was statistically significant(p£¼.001), and the explanatory power of the model was 14.5%. Clinical practice stress was the greatest predictor of clinical competence.
Conclusion : It is necessary to reduce stress on problem solving and clinical practice by increasing critical thinking tendency among nursing students. And educational programs should be applied to improve clinical performance. Strategic approaches will be needed to improve clinical practice stress coordination and clinical performance by using an organic system with clinical site.
